Radnor Police To Use Volunteer Help For Pope Francis Visit: Report

Police in Radnor will be using volunteers to assist in handling the influx of pilgrims expected to flood the area during the papal visit.

Police in Radnor will be calling on volunteers from the township’s Town Watch, Citizen’s Emergency Response Team and recent graduates from the Citizen’s Police Academy to assist in handling the influx of pilgrims expected to flood the area during Pope Francis’ visit next month, according to Main Line Media News.

While officers will be the ones directing traffic on the roads, volunteers will help with parking and answering telephone calls, the report said.

In addition, some volunteers will be assigned to pedestrian safety.

The volunteers will reportedly be covered under the township’s insurance policy.

Officials will also establish an Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the efforts of police, fire, ambulance and volunteers during Pope Francis’ visit.
