When did you go into business?

Unofficially, 2002 - officially, 2004

How did you come up with the name?

“I love going barefoot in general - my photograph just happens to have me pictured with no shoes - not for any real reason - my interiors are generally relaxed and hard wearing, yet chic - not stiff or formal...thus the barefoot concept.”

Why start a business here?

“This is where I grew up - I love the local architecture, there are abundant design resources and highly skilled trades - not to mention a fabulous and friendly clientele.”

What business are you in?

“Boutique, luxury interior design consultation.”

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

“Juggling all aspects (marketing, book keeping, designing, project management) of the business while raising 2 wonderful daughters as a single mother.”

What’s been your favorite moment/proudest achievement since opening?

“Receiving a phone call from Tara Behan from Main Line Today magazine asking to interview me for my first feature magazine article in that magazine.”

How does your business give back/get involved in the community?

”I donate design consultations to multiple silent auctions which raise money for various causes. Several years ago, I was highly involved with “For the Love of Emily”, a St. Katherine of Siena effort which enabled a local young lady with cerebral palsy to have the first floor of her home more accessible so that she could maneuver around the kitchen, bath, her bedroom and so on.”

“Prior to that, her parents were carrying her up and the down the stairs to sleep and bathe - the team created a new kitchen and first floor space plan, including a new bedroom and accessible bathroom for Emily.”
