Radnor Teachers Change Course, Will Write Recommendation Letters
Following campaign by Radnor High School seniors, recommendation letters will immediately resume

The Radnor Township Education Association, following an outcry from students, has agreed to immediately resume writing college recommendation letters, the association announced on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement came after Radnor High School seniors launched a weeklong campaign to wear white at school, and also wrote a letter to the School Board, asking the teachers to return to writing the letters and the sides to reach a settlement.
The teachers had announced on Labor Day that they would not write the recommendation letters through October 1, in protest of the school year having begun without a new contract.

“As this support has caused the Board to schedule multiple meetings with RTEA, we are delighted to announce that teachers will begin the process of writing senior recommendations immediately,” the teachers said in the statement.
Negotiations between the district and the teachers will resume next week.

“We live in a township where the parents and students value education,” David Wood, RTEA’s President, said in the statement.
“More than that, they value their schools and the professionals who work in them. Unfortunately, the School Board has not “invested in excellence,” as the district’s motto suggests, but has invested in fields and parking spaces and sign posts. We hope that next week’s meetings will do more than the first thirteen documented meetings to facilitate a new agreement. RTEA seeks an agreement that is fair and competitive regarding compensation and reflects the values and resources of this township, which have been illustrated by our parents and students these past few days.”
