Retiring Radnor Commissioner: Half The People Love Me And Half Don't

Retiring William Spingler told Main Line Media News that "the bottom line is half the people in Radnor love me and half don't."

At the end of three decades of public service, William Spingler told Main Line Media News that “the bottom line is half the people in Radnor love me and half don’t.”

The 73-year-old Radnor commissioner stepped down in July, serving as president of the board at the time. He was first elected to the board in 1969, as Radnor’s first ever Democratic commissioner. He also served at the county level from 1972 until 1980, and ran the Hubert Humphrey presidential campaign for the county, serving as a delegate in the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

In the interview, Spingler recounts his many political battles – with both Republicans and his own party – as well as his victories, including Villanova University dormitory development and the Radnor Trail.
