Serial Delco, Montgomery Bank Robber Gets 151 Months In Prison
David Charles Hayes was sentenced to 12-and-a half years in prison for robbing nine banks in Delaware and Montgomery counties in 2018.
SHARON HILL, PA — A Delaware County man was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing nine Delaware and Montgomery county banks in 2018.
United States Attorney William M. McSwain said David Charles Hayes, 33, of Sharon Hill, was sentenced to 151 months in prison, three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $43,632 in restitution for the robberies, which occurred between April and December 2018.
Hayes pleaded guilty to all nine robberies in November 2019.

Authorities said Hayes would go into the banks with his fact covered, usually with a bandanna, as well as a hare and sunglasses.
He would demand money from tellers and made threats to the tellers, including death threats, authorities said.

In total, Hayes stole more than $43,000 total during the nine robberies.
During one robbery, Hayes was given a security dye pack along with the stolen money, which began smoking and released a colored dye when it was taken out of the bank. He discarded the dye pack and the gloves he was wearing. However, police recovered this evidence and tested for it DNA.
Investigators determined Hayes matched the DNA and issued a warrant for his arrest.
He was taken into custody at Sugar House Casino, where he admitted to gambling his robbery proceeds.
