SOUTH WAYNE, PA — A local music festival that debuted in 2017 — then was silenced by the pandemic in 2020 — is back with more music in one Radnor Township community.

The streets of South Wayne will again come alive with music at the fourth annual South Wayne PorchFest, returning on Sept. 11, 2021. After last year's event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, South Wayne PorchFest organizers said the festival will return with expanded offerings for 2021.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11th, the event is scheduled to kick off at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial and tribute to first responders.

PorchFest will feature more than 50 varied musical acts performing on porches throughout five residential blocks. Windermere Avenue, St. Davids Road, and Midland Avenue will be closed to motor vehicles, allowing visitors to wander freely from porch to porch, a news release explained.

"We are beyond excited for this year's South Wayne PorchFest after having to cancel last year," said founder Cathy Agnew.

"Now that things are starting to look up, it's going to be an amazing welcome back for our community. We think people are really excited for the chance to reconnect and reestablish the strong sense of community we have in South Wayne — all while listening to some great music," Agnew added.

Musical acts will follow the memorial at noon and will perform throughout the day, until 5 p.m. The acts span numerous genres, including rock, folk, jazz, soul, Zydeco, and R & B, organizers said.

The event will feature several performers from the greater Philadelphia music scene, as well as some young, up-and-coming names. Full details are available here.

South Wayne PorchFest is a free community event organized to bring people together through the mutual enjoyment of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. It is family-friendly and open to the public, the festival's webpage states. "We welcome visitors to stroll our streets and relax in our yards while listening to a wide range of talented musicians."
