Quiet your heart and mind this month each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. with St. David’s Advent Musical Meditations. Set in the Old Church in candlelight, each short Musical Meditation features a different classical musician performing contemplative music in alternation with the reading of scripture, poetry, prose, and prayer.

The schedule is as follows...

December 16th: Caitlin Mehrtens is a harpist based in Houston, TX with degrees from both Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying under Yolanda Kondonassis and Paula Page. An active performer, she has performed numerous times as a concerto soloist.

In addition to performing with many professional orchestras such as the Spokane Symphony, the Mississippi Symphony, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Caitlin is an avid supporter and performer of contemporary art.

An active freelance performer in the contemporary, classical, and jazz genres, Caitlin also maintains a private studio of young musicians, college students, and adult beginners, and always strives to work with the individual to help them achieve their unique goals in music. She has studied the piano since age four, began her study of the harp at age nine, and is a native of Thornton, Pennsylvania.

December 23rd: Susan Lerner, Cellist, received a B.M. from the Hartt School of Music and Masters Degree in Performance from The Manhattan School of Music. Ms Lerner is the cellist for the “Broadway at the Academy” series of the Kimmel Center and the musicals at the Forrest and Walnut Street Theaters in Philadelphia Pa. She can also be seen often performing with the Delaware Symphony, Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Philly Pops. She has shared the stage with countless headlining stars, including Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Peter Gabriel, Smokey Robinson and Tony Bennett. A dedicated educator, Ms. Lerner teaches at Drexel University, LaSalle College High School and Merion Mercy Academy.
