Rt. 30 Interchange: PennDOT Award Letter for I-476 Ramp Meter Upgrades

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has awarded a $2,108,261 contract to Kuharchik Construction Inc., of Exeter, Pennsylvania, to replace the Ramp Meters (RM) on Interstate 476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties, as well as replace antiquated Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) on several state highways in Chester and Montgomery counties.

This project was driven by the need to upgrade 14 Ramp Meters on I-476 and 11 Dynamic Message Signs which have come to the end of their useful life. The new systems will enhance the travel experience for motorists using the latest available Intelligent Transportation System technologies.

• Nine replacements will take place on I-476 on-ramps in St. Davids/Villanova interchanges.

Work will be performed during non-peak travel times with limited impacts to motorists. Physical construction is expected to begin this spring and finish in spring 2022. The project is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
