A pair of Villanova film students have been selected as finalists by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

A pair of Villanova film students have been selected as finalists by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – in other words, the Oscars – for the Student Academy Awards.
Both films have been nominated for the Best Documentary category.
They are Dan Kerrigan’s “Rise and Shine,” and Elinore Wright’s “In Transition: Tony Chennault.”

According to a report at CBS3, “Rise and Shine” follows young people in Ghana and Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhoods, and how people’s identity impacts their opportunities in life.
“In Transition: Tony Chennault” follows a Philadelphia native with a promising professional basketball career, but who ultimately gives up the dream for a different life.
