Villanova Commencement Extended Over 3 Days, Fireworks Thursday

Expect fireworks Thursday night and traffic accommodations May 12-15 as Villanova's commencement is spread out to social distance.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Radnor Township official gave a heads up to residents that Villanova's commencement will be spread out over three days, telling them to expect fireworks and heavier traffic.

Villanova University Commencement events are scheduled from May 12 through May 15.

"While COVID social distancing protocols will be implemented and the timing of events is spread out, please be advised that the Villanova section of Radnor Township will experience heavy traffic ... due to Commencement," Radnor Township announced.

Radnor Township Police Department will have traffic detail officers working throughout the weekend to assist with traffic management, the township said.

A senior picnic for undergraduates only begins at noon on Wednesday.

On Thursday afternoon the university will hold its NROTC commissioning at 1 p.m.

On Thursday night, Villanova will host a fireworks display, weather permitting, beginning at 9 p.m. and concluding by 9:15 p.m. The township said the fireworks will launch from the area behind Connelly Center on the main campus and will be viewable from many surrounding neighborhoods.

"Please enjoy the show if you are in a viewing area and please be prepared to hear the loud sounds associated with fireworks displays," Radnor Township said.

Baccalaureate Mass is at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The Bachelor's Degree Commencement and Recognition Ceremony is at 2 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday at 11 a.m. is the Charles Widger School of Law Ceremony. That is followed by the Master's and Doctoral Degree Commencement and Recognition Ceremony at 2 p.m.
