Fishtails Animal Rescue, run by Dr. Lauren Cohn of Fishtown Animal Hospital, is an animal rescue organization in Philadelphia dedicated to helping the Philadelphia's most medically urgent shelter animals.
Fishtails is a foster-based rescue, so once an animal has been pulled out of the city shelter, the animal lives in a foster home until being adopted. Fishtails approves all applications before any adoption is completed, and does thorough background checks to make sure that all animals are placed in the best possible situation for the family and the animal.

While an animal is in foster care, Cohn provides all veterinary care so that there is no financial burden on the foster family. Often, this includes emergency medical care, since Cohn pulls medically urgent animals who are, at times, extremely ill and in need of emergency treatment.
Fishtails ensures that the animal is treated with the care needed, regardless of the expenses involved. This often means paying thousands of dollars to save lives, and to Fishtails, it is worth every cent.
Because emergency veterinary care is so expensive and Fishtails has pulled so many urgent medical animals, Fishtails has been unable to pull additional animals from the city shelter due to a lack of funds.
The month-long benefit at the Goat's Beard will help bills be paid off, and get Cohn back to saving animals from the shelter, rehabilitating them, and getting them into a home where they are able to relax and live their best lives.
The Goat's Beard in Wayne is located at 103 N. Wayne Ave. In addition, The Goat's Beard in Manayunk, 4201 Main St., is also participating in the month-long benefit.
