Wayne WWII Veteran Dies At 100
Francis Edward Mills served in Italy and North Africa in WWII
Francis Edward Mills, "Frank", formerly of Wayne, Pa., passed away on September 28, 2016 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Basking Ridge, N.J. He was 100.
Son of the late Augustus C. Mills and Margaretta E. Thomas Mills, he was born on Feb. 2, 1916 in Philadelphia.

Frank lived for most of his life in the Philadelphia area, most recently in Wayne, before moving to assisted living in Basking Ridge NJ. He was a WWII veteran serving in Italy/Rome and North Africa. Frank retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Frank was a former member of Chester Valley Country Club and loved the game of golf. He spent many winters on Hutchinson Island, Florida enjoying the sunshine and the golf course. He continued to play until he was 97.
He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Haines Mills. He is survived by nephew Peter C. Strang, nieces Patricia Personius and Priscilla Bishop and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held on Monday Oct. 3, 11 a.m. at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster and Aberdeen Aves., Wayne. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.
