Adventurer to Speak in Tredyffrin July 13
Jennifer Pharr Davis was named one of National Geographic's Adventurers of the Year for 2012.

Jennifer Pharr Davis has hiked more than 12,000 miles on six continents, and on July 13, she'll discuss her adventures and motivations at Tredyffrin Public Library.
One of National Geographic's 2012 Adventurers of the Year, Davis also operates her own business, the owner of Blue Ridge Hiking Company. In 2011, she became the first female to set a new record for hiking the full Appalachian Trail, when she finished the 2,181-miles trek in 46 days, 11 hours, and 20 minutes, an astounding average of 46.9 miles per day.
According to the National Geographic writeup, she took an unconventional route to breaking that record. While previous record-setters had been ultramarathoners who ran for for 11 to 13 hours daily, Davis hiked 16 hours a day and slept on the trail to save time.

At the library, she'll be discussing her memoir, Called Again: A Story of Love and Triumph.
“My message is not about records or numbers, instead I believe that the trail is there for everyone at every phase of life—and that the trail is a metaphor for life,” Davis said in a statement released by the library.
