Art Collector To Talk Picasso vs. Matisse at Easttown Library

Fred Dixon giving talk on "Picasso v. Matisse: The Great I-Can-Do-Anything-Better-Than-You Rivalry" Sept. 15

Local art director and author Fred Dixon will deliver a talk on “Picasso v. Matisse: The Great I-Can-Do-Anything-Better-Than-You Rivalry” on Sept. 15 at Easttown Library.

According to our local stream, the talk will “highlight the fascination the artists’ had with each other’s work – a captivation that became almost an obsession with the two giant figures of 20th century art. One of the most intense rivalries in the history of art shows us how competition stimulates growth and flashes of genius.”

Dixon is a former docent at the Barnes Foundation and authored “700 Years of Art History: Pre-Renaissance to Modernism.”
