Berwyn Golfer Competes In Girls Junior PGA Championship

BERWYN, PA — A young Berwyn woman who has some serious golf skills recently competed at the national level after winning a regional championship.

Samantha Yao, 18, of Berwyn, competed in the 44th Girls Junior PGA Championship July 9 through July 12, 2019 at Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Connecticut.

Yao finished 68th out of a field of 145 young women golfers after four round of play.

1. 72 — 5 above par
2. 72 — 3 above par
3. 73 — 2 above par
4. 75 — 2 above par

Her total score was 292.

Yao made it to the national stage after winning the 2019 Philadelphia Girls Junior PGA Championship on Thursday, June 20, at Bellewood Country Club in Pottstown.

There, she shot a 68, which is 3 under par.
