Berwyn Tree Lighting Cancelled Sunday

Dangerous conditions made it too difficult for many participants and vendors to get to the ceremony.

Unexpectedly heavy snow and difficult driving conditions forced organizers to cancel Sunday's scheduled Berwyn Christmas Tree Lighting at the Berwyn Train Station.

Organizers tell Patch they were due to meet later Sunday afternoon to determine whether or not the annual event will be rescheduled.  It had been set to start at 5:30 p.m. with Santa arriving at 6 aboard a Berwyn Fire Company engine.  The event is also a fundraiser for the volunteer fire company.

As of 5 a.m. Monday there was no word on any rescheduling or when the winners of the Berwyn Holiday Decorations contest will be announced.  That announcement was scheduled for the tree lighting ceremony.  Patch will be post the winning entries once the information is made available.
