The Black Powder Tavern makes its official debut Thursday night in Ttedyffrin. The Black Powder is the latest incarnation for a restaurant theme in the building which dates back to mid 1700's.
Legend has it that George Washington dined there during his winter at Valley Forge. The interior reflects that period with art work and prints on the newly painted walls that reflect the historic figures and scenes from the revolution.
The food and the bar are thoroughly modern with some unique and tasty menu items and two dozen beers and awesome root beer on tap.
The Black Powder Tavern is still owned the same Ohio-based company that owned Winberie's. The restaurant was closed for about a month for the overhaul.
The new restaurant has a bigger bar area, two dining rooms and a private dining room for private parties upstairs.
It will be open for dinner starting Thursday and open for lunch and dinner beginning next week.
Menu items come in small, shareable "bar food" size as well as full entrees. The entire menu is available on the Black Powder Tavern website. In addition to two dozen beers on tap, 40 craft beers in bottles, the drink menu also includes milkshakes and 'adult milkshakes'. The Tavern also offer a kids menu.
