Black Powder Tavern, Yards Teaming Up For Independence Day Event

Yards beer, giveaways, colonial garb, and even Ben Franklin will highlight the special July 6 event at the Black Powder Tavern in Wayne.

WAYNE, PA — In honor of Independence Day, the Black Powder Tavern and Yards Brewery are teaming up for a special patriotic event.

Starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, the Wayne tavern and the Philly brewer will host “Beers of the Presidents.

The Independence Day weekend celebration comes with a twist — staff and guests sporting colonial garb.

Throughout the evening, Yards will be offering their custom-crafted Washington’s Porter and Jefferson’s Golden ale on tap for $5, Yards merchandise, and giveaways.

Also, included in the Fourth of July event will be a DJ, historical impersonators, patriotic cocktails, games for all ages, and more.

Oh, and Philly’s own Benjamin Franklin will do a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Guests are encouraged to bring their most creative colonial attire as the best dressed guest will win a free dinner.

“We wanted to properly celebrate our nation's independence, especially because we are a part of that history, and we wanted the community to celebrate history and freedom with us," Black Powder Tavern General Manager Bernie Bottmeyer said.

Black Powder Tavern has never before celebrated Independence Day in this way, but Bottmeyer thinks what better way to honor the history of the restaurant where George Washington once took shelter.
