Darby Road Closures Start April 15 in Easttown

As PennDOT crews replace a water main, the road will close between Devon Road and Route 252.

A heavily trafficked stretch of Darby Road will be closed during the day from April 15 to May 11, as crews replace a water main under the road, PennDOT recently announced.

Darby Road between Devon Road and Route 252 will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., as crews replace a deteriorated drainage pipe. 

The work was originally planned for February but was halted when an unexpected utility pipe was discovered.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will improvement drainage on Darby Road between Devon Road and Route 252 (Darby Paoli Road) in Easttown Township, Chester County beginning April 15 by replacing a deteriorated drainage pipe.  Darby Road will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through May 11.
During construction, Darby Road through traffic will be detoured over Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and Route 252 (Leopard Road).  Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.  Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

This work is part of PennDOT’s $11 million project to repair and resurface 12 state highways in Chester County.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $11,039,350 project. The project is financed with 100 percent state funds. All work will be completed by August 2013.
