Expert Speaking On Teen Brains At Easttown Library Wednesday

Don't miss UPenn's Neurology Department Chair Dr. Frances Jensen speak on teen brains and why teens do what they do.

EASTTOWN, PA – The Easttown Library is hosting a special talk with a neurological expert who will weigh in on the mystery that is the teenage brain this week, as well as why teens do what they do.

Dr. Frances Jensen of University of Pennsylvania will be at the library speaking about her book "The Teenage Brain" at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the library, 720 First Ave., Berwyn.

Jensen, who serves as a professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at Penn, will discuss her 2016 book which uncovers science behind the actions and decisions teenagers make.

Jensen’s research will help you understand the teenager’s brain, as well as shed light on why teenagers behave the way they do.

Attendees should expect to see topics such as:

  • Brain development and how it effects decision making (specifically risk taking);
  • effects of technology on the teenage brain;
  • and how this all translates to the aspects of teens' sleep, stress, sports, as well as, alcohol and other drug use.

The discussion, hosted by Area Residents Caring and Helping, is free and open to the public.
