Gateway Speed Bumps Hitting a Bump in the Road

The second generation of speed bumps appear to be taking too many hit

It sems the controversial speed bumps in the gateway Shopping Center parking lot have hit a bump in the road.

It seems some of them are falling apart.  TE Patch reader Lucy Bennett sent in a photo of the rubberized speed bumps which seems to be taking the worst of the winter weather.  Some are literally falling apart,

Several other TE Patch readers sent emails this week asking what is going on with the speed bumps.  While Patch does not yet have the official scientific explanation, it seems to several drivers and observers that the speed bumps are falling apart.

The current speed bumps are the second generation of of manufactured speed bumps installed on the outer, through lane section of the shopping center parking lot.  The first manufactured bumps that were installed over the summer met with disdain and instant complaints from hundreds of drivers who took to Patch to complain about the severity of the first bumps which forced drivers to slow to a pace somewhat slower than a crawl or face car and bone-jarring bumps, even at very slow speeds.

In response the shopping center installed "gentler" manufactured speed bumps which still slow cars down for safety but which were not nearly as jarring at even the slowest speeds.

The past two weeks are the speed bumps first real world test in heavy snow, ice and and ice-melting conditions.
