Last-Minute Menu Rush

Foodies flock to TE speciality stores for menu items that are made local, made fresh and (sorry Aunt Ethel) probably better than you can make it at home.

TE Stores both small and large pack in the patrons who will be packing on the pounds and enjoying Thanksgiving Feasts.

Sweet Jazmine's Bakery in Berwyn is one of the places that saw an incredible rush on Wednesday.  The shop, next to the Berwyn Fire Company features delicious desserts, including owner Kim Cuthbert's sweet-potato based pies, cakes and muffins.  The shop was featured in a 6ABC/Action News report Wednesday.

Homecooked in Paoli, which sells ready to eat homemade delicacies made fresh daily in the store, had hundreds of people rush in to pick up everything from soup to desserts. Owner Claire Phillips Guarino says you can take their delicious items out of their carry out trays, heat them and claim them as your own, or you can eat them right out of the trays.

Whole Foods Market in Devon had what a spokeswoman says is probably its busiest day of the year on Wednesday.  The store offers complete Thanksgiving feast menus which you can purchase pre-cooked (on the premises) or all the ingredients to cook yourself. Whole Food's Alex Boardman tells Patch the store had around 1,500 orders for pick up between Monday and Wednesday. 700 of those were picked up Wednesday. Customers were lined up the length of the storefront and beyond by 8 a.m. to pick up their meals.  Whole Foods also has a Holiday Menu for sale for Christmas, New Year's and all the December holidays.  Boardman says Thanksgiving is a little different than the December rush because virtually every customer is buying a turkey dinner to be served on the same day. In December customers are more spread out over the calendar as they purchase meals for holiday parties and family gatherings in the weeks leading up to specific days.
