Party Affiliation: Democrat
Family: I live with my wife Lauren and our two young sons.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No
Education: Georgetown University, B.S.F.S.; Penn State Dickinson School of Law, J.D.
Occupation: Currently in-house counsel at Bryn Mawr Trust — 14 years as an attorney
Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: Currently Tredyffrin Township Supervisor, At Large. Elected 2017.
Why are you seeking elective office?: I want to further our progress of the past four years by ensuring smart investments in our public infrastructure, libraries, parks and to continue local government's focus on the needs of residents. I hope to continue contributing my experience and knowledge of municipal matters to the Township.
The single most pressing issue facing our township is: Managing numerous demands for the Township's limited resources. Now is the time to make critical investments in sewer and stormwater maintenance, emergency services, and our parks.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: Extensive experience in local government and municipal law.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform: Other issues that I look to prioritize include: 1) protecting our neighborhoods from encroaching development; 2) emphasizing community-based governance; 3) continue as a staunch supporter of our libraries and parks; and 4) establish and support a Township Arts Commission.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?: Thanks to our dedicated Township staff and the Board of Supervisors (BOS), we were able to steer the Township through the incredible difficulties of the COVID crisis. This included managing a significant loss of revenue while providing residents with the same excellent services (i.e. snow removal, police/fire protection, public works, etc.) that they have come to expect.
We have plans for the future as evidenced by a new bond issue where we will be renovating parks, fixing stormwater and sewer issues, and improving our libraries. We have undergone a major renovation of the Township building and provided funding to open our libraries seven days a week. Since being elected, the BOS has dedicated the Township to inspired environmental initiatives including green energy and resources for land conservation efforts.
As a member of the BOS finance committee for the past three years, I am particularly proud of the fact that we have narrowed the large revenue/expenditure budgetary gap that we inherited and are now securing the Township's long-term financial health.
The best advice ever shared with me was: Pick up the phone, stop with the emailing; it saves time and avoids misunderstandings.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: I am very grateful to the residents of Tredyffrin Township for placing their trust in me these past four years as one of their representatives on the Board of Supervisors. The best part about being an elected official is working with people to fix their problems and planning how our community will look in the future. Thank you for the opportunity!
