Occupation: Retired Commercial Real Estate Attorney with over 40 years experience

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: Tredyffrin Township Supervisor-at-Large. I am in my eighth year as Supervisor, three of those years as Chair of the Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors. I am a candidate for reelection as Tredyffrin Township Supervisor-at-Large.

Why are you seeking elective office?: As I have during my time as Supervisor, I want to continue using my experience and energy to work with Tredyffrin residents to solve their problems and meet their needs. It has been an honor to serve the residents of Tredyffrin. I will continue to take action to make Tredyffrin an even better community. I will govern with a view to the future to assure a strong, vibrant Tredyffrin.

The single most pressing issue facing our township is: Stormwater flooding is the single most pressing issue facing Tredyffrin Township, damaging property and creating potentially dangerous conditions for residents. Flooding has many causes, including frequent extreme rainstorms, early development without strong stormwater ordinances, and an aging stormwater infrastructure exacerbated by long-deferred maintenance. I will continue to work with other supervisors and Township staff to address Tredyffrin’s stormwater management issues by taking the following actions: (1) Listening to, and acting on, residents’ stormwater concerns; (2) strategizing funding solutions for stormwater projects, including, but not limited to, the $2,000,000 in current bond funds allocated to stormwater projects, potential governmental grants and other funds, and capital reserves; (3) prioritizing stormwater projects by working with the Citizens Stormwater Advisory Task Force; and (4) supporting our Township Public Works and Engineering Departments in their efforts to repair and replace deteriorated stormwater infrastructure. While much work remains, we are making progress on tackling our stormwater problems

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: I am a proven leader in my eighth year of governing Tredyffrin Township. During my time as a Supervisor, including my three years as Chair of the Board, I have been privileged to serve and get to know the residents of Tredyffrin Township. I have had the experience of listening to their concerns and handling issues affecting them. I have a record of working well with the Tredyffrin community, all Board members, and Township staff. OurTownship is moving forward. I want to use my experience to build an even better future for Tredyffrin.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform: A key issue for me in this campaign is Tredyffrin's future. Supervisors must act with a view to the future. For me, looking to the future means: (1) keeping Tredyffrin Township fiscally strong; (2) exercising smart management of Tredyffrin’s economic revitalization and redevelopment; (3) listening to Tredyffrin residents and meeting their future needs; (4) maintaining a high level of Township services; (5) finding solutions for our emergency services and stormwater management funding issues; (6) promoting the use of renewable energy in the Township, and; (7) working tirelessly to move Tredyffrin forward.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?: I have described my extensive experience in governing Tredyffrin Township as Supervisor-at-Large and Chair of the Board. That leadership experience is clear evidence that I can handle the job of Supervisor. Here are several of my accomplishments during my time on the Board of Supervisors. I have helped develop fiscally sound Township budgets that provided for the effective delivery of Township services and ensured the Township’s financial strength. As chair, I helped lead the completion of the Township’s $7,000,000 bond offering at historically low interest rates in November 2019. This bond offering made funds available for much needed major Township projects, including bridge repairs and replacements, stormwater infrastructure projects, park renovations, and library improvements.

The best advice ever shared with me was: Be yourself, never give up, and have some fun

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: I am dedicated to my work as a Tredyffrin Supervisor. I know the neighborhoods and people of Tredyffrin Township. As I have during my two terms as Supervisor, I will put the concerns of Tredyffrin residents first and will work hard for our community. I would welcome the opportunity to use my energy and experience to help lead Tredyffrin Township to an even brighter future.
