Why are you seeking elective office?: I am seeking office because after being an active member of the community and attending many school board & committee meetings, I feel that the community often asks reasonable questions that frequently do not get answered.
The single most pressing issue facing our school district is: I think the most pressing issue facing our board is the prudent allocation of resources and how that is communicated to the community. I plan on simplifying the reports & having more communication with the community. I want to have open conversations about decisions that are being made.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: One critical difference between myself & the other democrat running is that I have been attending school board & committee meetings for 6 years. I have been an active member in this community for the past 10 years.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the district?: I believe the current board has failed the community in not having transparency and a lack of accountability as to how decisions are made & the allocation of resources.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform: I want to look at how the district administers equity throughout the student body in terms of diversity, education, discipline just to name a few.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?: I have a unique ability to bring people together. You need to talk to others try to understand the other side and where people are coming from. Finding common ground is the beginning of any solution to the problems we face.
The best advice ever shared with me was: A bad day is having someone die on you, it's all small stuff. Given to me by a retired CICU nurse.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: You will always know where I stand on an issue and how to get in touch with me. We may not always agree, but I will always be open to listening to your thoughts.
