Nearly 200 Pounds of Prescriptions Turned In to Tredyffrin Police
Drive is part of a national effort to curb prescription drug abuse.

Tredyffrin Police report that 180 pound of unusued, unwanted or expired prescription drugs were turned in by members of the public Saturday at the Tredyffrin Municipal Building and Police station.
The prescription drug take back program was part of a national campaign to help get unused prescription drugs out of homes and out of the hands of potential prescription drug abusers.
Tredyffrin Police Superintendent Anthony Giaimo released the following statement about the program and the event:
I am pleased to report that the prescription drug take back program which was held this weekend in partnership with a national effort was another great success.
This past Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10 am to 2 pm Tredyffrin Township Police Department held a prescription drug take back program in conjunction with ARCH (Area Residents Caring and Helping) and the DEA.
During the short event time, we collected numerous prescription drugs which were packed into boxes and destroyed at a DEA Â sponsored facility. There were in excess of 180 pounds of pharmaceuticals destroyed.
Special thanks to Lt. Taro Landis and Officer Russell Hittle for the assistance with this project.
We will continue to collect prescription drugs year round in our approved collection box (donated by ARCH).
It is utterly important to keep these prescription drugs out of the hands of our kids as well as keeping these drugs out of our environment.
Thank you to the Board of Supervisors for supporting this event as well as other community projects.
Township residents can turn in unwanted to unused prescription drugs at anytime the lobby of the Tredyffrin Municipal Buiding is open.  There is a secure "no questions asked" drop box in the lobby to the left of the front door in the Tredyffrin Police Station lobby area.
