New Principal Announced for Devon Elementary School

Todd Parker will replace Tom Tobin, who plans to retire at the end of the school year.

Tredyffrin/Easttown School District announced Wednesday that middle school assistant principal Dr. Todd S. Parker will take over as principal of Devon Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year.

Current principal Tom Tobin recently announced plans to retire this summer. The school board is expected to officially appoint Parker to succeed him at its April 22 meeting, on the recommendation of Superintendent Daniel Waters.

Parker has worked as a teacher and administrator in the district since 2001, according to the district website:

Currently he serves as assistant principal of T/E Middle School and District Social Studies Curriculum Supervisor. As Curriculum Supervisor, Dr. Parker led the development of K-12 curriculum for social studies, art and gifted programming; supervised teachers and participated in recruitment and hiring of staff members.

He chaired the advisory council for instruction of English Language Learner and students with IEPs and GIEPs. In addition, he served as interim principal of Valley Forge Elementary School for the principal on leave. Dr. Parker has participated as a member of the District Strategic Planning Committee.

Dr. Parker earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Government from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. He earned his doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tobin is retiring after working in the T/E School District for 21 years. Parker is expected to become principal at Devon Elementary effective July 1.
