Night Time Construction Work on 202, 401 This Week

Drivers can expect lane restrictions on U.S. 202, Conestoga Road and Planebrook Road in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland.

Motorists traveling in Chester County on U.S. 202 between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, and on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Planebrook Road in East Whiteland Township, will face nighttime travel restrictions this week, PennDOT announced.

The work is associated with PennDOT’s project to widen 6.5 miles of U.S. 202 between the Route 252/Swedesford Road Interchange in Tredyffrin Township and the U.S. 30 Interchange in East Whiteland Township under two construction contracts totaling $168.7 million.

Crews will work at night reducing northbound and/or southbound U.S. 202 to two lanes between the Route 29 and Chesterbrook interchanges on Monday, June 15, through Thursday, June 18, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning to replace sections of concrete pavement that were not accepted by PennDOT, and complete work on signs, structures and drainage components in the six-lane section that was substantially completed last year.

In addition, northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from three lanes to one between the Route 29 and Chesterbrook interchanges from 8 p.m. Friday, June 19, to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 for construction activities.

On Tuesday, June 16, U.S. 202 south will be reduced to a single lane near the Route 401 Interchange from 10 p.m. to midnight for grading and sign work. In the event weather forces the postponement of this operation, the work will be completed at the same time on Wednesday, June 17.

Ongoing construction at the U.S. 202 bridges over Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Planebrook Road in East Whiteland Township will require periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes on Monday, June 15, through Thursday, June 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, and on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, from midnight to 10 a.m.

All activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel and use extra care when driving through the construction zones.
