Pantloads of Trouble: A Not-So Clean Getaway

Police say man charged with stealing shampoo from CVS was caught on camera.

A man charged with stealing over $1100 worth of shampoo and other hair care products from the CVS in Berwyn has been ordered to stand trial.

Anthony Vasquez, 25, of Queens NY appeared in Devon District Court last week on charges dating back to May 2012.

In an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case, Easttown Police say the man was caught on surveillance camera images walking out of the store with his pants bulging with the expensive products.

According to a statement from an undercover store security employee in one of the photos "the man is seen walking into the store with dark colored pants that appeared to be either taped of strapped to the (man's) ankle. In another photo the actor is seen leaving the store with large bulges in his pant legs and in the belt line along his back under his t-shirt.  In two of the photos the (man) is seen stuffing items into his pants from the waistline."

Easttown police say the stolen items were valued at $1,102 according to CVS.  Vasquez was ordered held over for trial by District Judge Thomas Tartaglio on one felony and two misdemeanor counts in the case.

Horse Show Opening Raised Suspicion

The store security plainclothesman testified that the store manager reported a suspicious car with New York plates idling in front of the store and that drew the attention of store security.  The CVS employee testified that store was already on alert that day because it was May 31, 2012 which was opening day of the Devon Horse Show.  The security officer testified that crime routinely increases in the store when the horse show is open and that's why the store was on alert.
