Primary Vote In Tredyffrin/Easttown School District Leaned Red
Deana Wang looked strong in the primary election, winning in TESD Region 2 on the Republican ticket, and taking 21 percent of the Dem vote.
TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Tredyffrin/Easttown School District saw Republican candidates doing well on Democratic ballots in two of the three district regions, in the May 18 primary election.
With 98 percent of the mail-in vote counted, and all in-person votes tallied, Chester County commissioners expect to certify results on June 7, the commissioners' office said Monday morning.
In Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, Democrat Yolanda Allen and Republican Leslie Elken ran for a single Region 1 seat on the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District board, each cross-filed and appearing on both ballots. Elken did 6 percentage points better on the other party's ballot than did Allen, according to the Pennsylvania Voter Services tally.

On the Democratic ballot, Singh and Wang were listed along with Democrat Nancy Coradi, and the cross-filed Republican candidate outdid Coradi. Wang received 21 percent, with Coradi receiving 16 percent on the Democratic ballot. Singh won on the Dem's ballot, garnering 61 percent of the Democratic vote.
In TESD's Region 3, where four candidates were vying for two seats, results were a bit more predictable, with Republicans Rachel Kill and Bill Nolan prevailing on the Republican ballot, Nolan receiving 45 percent of the vote and Kill taking 41 percent. Democrat Susan Audrain received 13 percent of the Republican vote, something of a counter to Wang's dent in Region 2.
But Audrain took 41 percent of the Democratic ballot vote, and Democrat Maryann Piccioni 45 percent. Cross-filing, Nolan received 6 percent, and Kill received 7 percent on the opposing party's ballot, according to the Pennsylvania Voter Services tally.
An earlier story on the TESD school board primary races misreported the winner in Region 1. Patch regrets any confusion that resulted from this error.
