Surrey Services Worker Accused in Thefts from Elderly
Woman took advantage of Senior Center clients, police say.

A 51-year-old former Surrey Senior Services  employee is facing multiple theft charges, accused of stealing approximately $60,000 worth of jewelry and silver from elderly clients she provided in-home services like cleaning for.
Tredyffrin Police say detectives began investigating Veronica Patterson of Lester after receiving reports from multiple elderly victims of theft from the residences. Patterson was an employee of Surrey Services at the time of the crimes. Police tell Patch she also did some work for clients separate and apart from her employment at Surrey.
Tredyffrin Police say that investigators from the Easttown and Marple Police departments "uncovered that she had stolen numerous jewelry items and silver from elderly patients since the summer of 2012 and pawned them. An approximate value for the loss is $ 60,000. Investigators learned that the thefts were generated by an underlying addiction to controlled substances including prescription medications and cocaine."
Patterson was arrested and arraigned Wednesday at the Devon District Court.
