Suspicious Package Shuts Down YMCA
A cooler with burn marks turned out to only contain someone's lunch, police said.

A suspicious package found in an Upper Main Line YMCA stairwell Tuesday morning led to the evacuation of the building.Â
The YMCA reported the package—a cooler with burn marks and the lid taped shut—to Easttown Police, who responded to the scene around 7 a.m.Â
"The condition of the cooler made it seem suspicious," Easttown Police Chief David Obzud said. "Out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the Y and brought in a bomb dog from the [Chester County Sheriff's office]."

The dog indicated there was no threat, and police opened the cooler, which contained only food. The YMCA was reopened after about 45 minutes.
The top had been taped because it was broken—it would slide open when picked up, Obzud said.

The YMCA reacted properly to the situation, Obzud said. Police are looking into the owner of the cooler.
