T/E School District to Seek Zoning Variance for Tennis Courts

The Tredyffrin-Easttown School District will seek a variance from Tredyffrin Township to exceed the maximum allowable impervious surface area.

Tredyffrin/Easttown School Board District will seek a variance from Tredyffrin Township to allow the district to add 24 new parking spots at Valley Forge Elementary School without removing any existing impervious space.

The district had been planning to remove the tennis courts at the school to offset the new pavement, but after a strong response from the community, the school board halted those plans.

The school board of directors decided to apply for the variance at its April 22 meeting, according to a meeting recap posted to the district website:

Valley Forge Elementary School Tennis Courts The Board of Directors of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District resolves as follows:
That the administration is authorized to proceed with requesting the required variance or other zoning relief from the Tredyffrin Township Zoning Hearing Board to permit the District to maintain and operate the Valley Forge Elementary School tennis courts and still proceed with the Valley Forge Elementary School parking space project.

The Zoning Hearing Board typically meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, with the next meeting scheduled on May 23.
