TESD Students Excel at State Math Competition
Two of the students from Valley Forge and Tredyffrin-Eattown middle schools are headed to the national competition.

Tredyffrin-Easttown School District had the honor of sending teams of four students from both Valley Forge Middle School and Tredyffrin-Easttown Middle School last Saturday, March 23, to the annual State MATHCOUNTS competition. Both teams advanced from the county competition held in February.
Alex Murphy (7th), Vamsi Saladi (8th), Eric Wei (8th) and Richard Xu (8th) represented Valley Forge Middle School led by VFMS teacher, Allison Long.

Thomas Huck (7th), Brady Munroe (7th), Melissa Cui (8th) and Jonathan Xu (8th) represented Tredyffrin-Easttown Middle School led by TEMS teacher, Lisa Stehouwer.
VFMS placed first in the team competition with two students in the top ten: Vamsi Saladi and Eric Wei. TEMS placed second in the team competition with three students in the top ten: Jon Xu, Thomas Huck and Brady Munroe. The competition was close as VFMS scored one point higher than TEMS in the team round.

Jon Xu (TEMS) and Vamsi Saladi (VFMS) will be advancing to the National Competition in Washington, DC as part of the four member state team from Pennsylvania. Allison Long will coach the state team for the National Competition.
