30 Main Opens Monday in Former Black Sheep Spot
The new restaurant-bar-lounge opens for dinner Monday at 4 p.m., but will be fully operational on Friday, according to the owners.
Berwyn's newest restaurant and bar, 30 Main, opens Monday, according to the father-and-son owners, Matthew and Michael DiDomenico.Â
The owners describe the restaurant as "city meets suburbs." For Michael, the concept reflects his own evolving preferences.
"I'm 37. I don't want to go into the city as much," he said. "You pay a lot of money for food, you pay for parking, and to some degree, it's not as easy to get around."

The DiDomenicos plan to ease into the opening, offering a limited menu at first and the full menu at the end of the week.
"Friday will be a good day to come in," Michael said.

Located at the southwest corner of Route 30 and Main Street—hence the name—the space formerly belonged to Baxter's Black Sheep Saloon.
Michael and Matthew said they were brainstorming names and considering 123 Main, when a friend asked:Â "When are you going to open that 30 Main place?"Â
One plus of the name, said Matthew, is that it lends itself toward franchises—every city has a Main Street.
The restaurant features two-tops (tables for two), four-tops, seven booths in the dining room, three booths in the bar, and a dozen tables that can be arranged as needed. A music lounge in the back holds about 15 people.Â
Big Plans
Michael said the restaurant will be geared toward hosting events. A video projection system with a 109-inch retractable screen in one of the rooms will be perfect for business presentations, slideshows for social gatherings, movies and sporting events, he said.
Music will be an important aspect of the business, too, according to Matthew, who said his band, Silver Rain, might perform from time to time.Â
While the dinner hours will be family friendly, the later hours will resemble more of a club or lounge scene. Classic rock and dance music will be featured, but each owner also mentioned what won't be pumping through the speakers. "No techno," said Michael. "No [Lady] Gaga," said Matthew.
Open-mic nights on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will provide opportunities for local talent to entertain the crowd—and maybe land a gig.
"We're looking for good people to come in, sing and play piano, and potentially earn positions for Thursday, Friday, Saturday," Michael said.
Among the other plans the owners have in store:
- disco brunch on Saturdays
- art gallery nights
- fashion shows
- nonprofit auctions
- industry nights on Monday, geared to servers and bartenders
