Tredyffrin-Easttown School District: Reopening Schools 2020-2021

All TESD students in grades 1-12 will begin school virtually on August 31, and kindergarten students will begin virtually on September 8.

On August 24, 2020, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors approved an updated Phased School Reopening Health and Safety Plan and an updated Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities: Off-Season and Pre-Season Health and Safety Plan. On Friday, August 14, the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) recommended that schools in Chester and Delaware County remain virtual through at least October 9. Based on this recommendation, the TESD School Board approved extending virtual instruction until at least October 12. The start of the school year remains the same – all TESD students in grades 1-12 will begin school virtually on August 31, and kindergarten students will begin virtually on September 8. On Monday, July 27, 2020, the T/E School District Administration presented its proposed plans for reopening T/E schools this fall. The presentation slides on the reopening plans are available here.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 the School Board held a special meeting to present and vote on the proposed reopening plans. By a vote of 9-0, the Board approved the reopening plans.

Thank you to the community members who submitted comments and questions using our reopening plan feedback form prior to the meeting and to those who submitted comments during the meeting at the conclusion of the presentation. We received over 1,000 responses. The administration attempted to answer as many questions as possible during the July 27 and July 29 meetings.
