Tredyffrin Police Report Man Found Passed Out In Car With Drugs
A man listed as homeless in court docs is charged with DUI and a weapons offense after Tredyffrin Police said he was passed out in his car.
WAYNE, PA — A 34-year-old homeless man is charged with DUI, drug possession, and a weapons charge after police reportedly found him passed out in a car.
Tredyffrin Township Police reported Shawn Newsome is charged with DUI, Possession of Drugs, and Possession of a Prohibited Offensive Weapon after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle on March 9 in Wayne.
Chester County Court docket lists Newsome as homeless, and the police report lists him as from Berwyn. In a bail hearing on March 26, Newsome's bail was set at $10,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 23.

The court docket shows Newsome charged with traffic offenses in the incident and states that the DUI charge relates to using a controlled substance.
The first-degree misdemeanor weapons offense is described as relating to "making repairs, selling, etc. offensive weapons," according to the court document.

Tredyffrin Township Police also reported seven other persons in the last month were charged with DUI at more than twice the legal BAC limit.
