UPPER DUBLIN, PA -- Upper Dublin Police Sgt. James R. Miller died on April 20, 2004, the line of duty.

Twelve years later, the police force is commemorating Miller's memory and the life of a hero:

Today we would like to take a moment to remember a hero. On April 20, 2004, Upper Dublin Township Police Sergeant James R. Miller died in the line of duty in a vehicle crash. Sergeant Miller served Upper Dublin Township for 28 years and served his country in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Sergeant Miller's dedication to his community, his country and his family demonstrated the core values that all members of the Upper Dublin Police Department strive to attain. According to his Officer Down Memorial Page, Miller was killed on Dreshertown Road, near Welsh Road, while responding to the scene of another accident at 4:15 a.m.

Miller is survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren.
