'Cirque de la Symphonie' On The Way To Upper Dublin

Under the musical direction of Maestro Michael Butterman, the Pennsylvania Philharmonic celebrates the holiday season with Cirque de la Symphonie in three regional performances: January 1 (Phoenixville Middle School), 2 (Upper Dublin Performing Arts Center), and 3 (Easton State Theatre).

Live in-front of a full symphony orchestra, internationally-acclaimed Cirque de la Symphonie pairs world-class acrobats and gymnasts with music by the Pennsylvania Philharmonic. Classical favorites take on new meaning in a magical production that features jugglers, balancing acts, contortionists, strongmen and symphonic sounds.

Several new acts have been incorporated to give Pennsylvania Philharmonic audiences an unprecedented experience.

To be sure the act is always bold and fresh, the feats of valor they perform are always incredible. Strongmen, Vitaliy Prikhodko and Pavel Korshunov, move with a languid grace from one seemingly impossible gymnastic stunt to another to Sibelius’ Finlandia with unfathomable strength and agility.

While Anna Stenyaeva Hula Hoops with fever, and Aleksandr Deev’s spins dizzily across the stage in his human wheel. All of the Cirque acts are perfectly choreographed to the most powerful and dazzling orchestral music in the repertoire, making every piece the perfect marriage of movement and music.

Composers such as Marquez, Sibelius, Wagner, and Bernstein are all represented along with many others. Performing live music this vivid and spritely underneath acrobatics, and hand-balancer Ekaterina Borzikova, is a spectacular must-see.

Music director Michael Butterman, nationally recognized for innovative programming and his commitment to audience and community engagement, leads the PA Philharmonic in accessible world-class programming, brightening the region’s the season with the magic of Cirque—introducing kids to classical music while the whole family is being amazed by the visual artistry of the performers.

The Pennsylvania Philharmonic is committed to connecting Pennsylvania’s regional communities through music education and orchestral programming.

What differentiates this orchestra from others is Butterman’s collaboration with multiple communities throughout Pennsylvania in bringing a full orchestra and music curriculum into local school districts, connecting directly with music educators and students, in addition to performing a world-class public concert season featuring internationally acclaimed performers such as Cirque de la Symphonie.
