Cancer Survivors honored at Tri-Valley Relay for Life

June 2nd is National Cancer Survivors Day, Congratulations to all the Survivors

CANCER SURVIVORS are invited to celebrate by joining the Survivor Lap at the annual Relay for Life event, which will be at Granada High School on Sat, June 22, 2019. The Tri-Valley Relay for Life is for Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Sunol and Livermore.

In addition, they are invited to the Survivors tent for free gifts, a special lunch for survivors and other activities. In the evening, the luminaria (lighted bags) surround the track, each one with the name of a survivor, one currently fighting the battle or a loved one lost to cancer. The luminaria ceremony which begins after dark, honors survivors as well as those who have lost the battle.

The Survivor Lap is the very first lap of the day and follows an inspiring Opening Ceremony at 9am. Survivors walk the lap to the cheers of their friends and onlookers, it is a very heartfelt time of rejoicing, love and gratitude. The second lap of the day is the caregiver lap, where spouses, children and other caregivers join the survivor in walking around the track.

Following these laps, anyone can walk a lap or more to honor loved ones who have battled cancer.

Teams are organized for fund raising purposes and for 24 hours, one of the team members walks around the track, signifying that the battle against cancer never ends. Teams also have booths with food, raffles, and information about cancer, there is entertainment and kids activities throughout the day.

Relay for Life is a fundraising activity of the American Cancer Society to help fund research and other activities in the battle against cancer.

To register for the Survivor Lap, go to: www.RelayforLife.org/TriValleyCA, go to <Join the Relay>, you can join <as a survivor>, of course it asks for a donation, but you can skip all that for now and just sign up for the survivor lap, you can also register your caregiver the same way.

If you are a cancer survivor, please come and join the survivor lap, you’ll rejoice with others as you walk the lap honoring your fight against this dreaded disease.

Be sure to honor your caregiver by registering them also (as a caregiver) and ask them to join you on the caregiver lap.

Volunteer positions are available on the website for those who would like to give 2 or 3 hours to help, you can decorate luminaria bags, fill water tubs or help in other ways (www.RelayforLife.org/TriValleyCA click on the RED Volunteer button).
