Montco Baseball Tournament To Support Players With Disabilities

"Every child deserves the chance to play baseball."

A baseball tournament in Horsham this weekend will support the Miracle Field project, a field that would be specially designed for baseball players with disabilities.

The tournament is organized by Kevin Barron, a June 2015 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School.

“Every child deserves to play baseball,” Barron said.

The Miracle Field would support the Challenger baseball Little League for individuals with disabilities in Horsham and the surrounding area.

The league has been led by Stanley Jaskiewicz since its founding in 2005.

Barron, who is preparing to begin his college baseball career at Campbell University in the fall, hopes that this year’s event will be an even bigger success last year.

Tournament games at Deep Meadow park began on Thursday night and will run Friday night, all day Saturday and all day Sunday.

Supporters of the event say that support for the project this year has been widespread throughout the community, ranging from individual donations to record support at a fundraiser in June on Horsham day.

Items donated for raffle in support of the league have included pro sports tickets, autographed memorbilia, gift baskets, a 50 inch television, a Fitbit, and more.

Food donations have also come in, so snack stand sales during the tournament will further support the cause.

Barron has also recruited multiple students from Hatboro-Horsham schools to volunteer and help with the event.

Games on Friday will begin at 5:45 p.m., while weekend games will begin at 8 a.m. and run until late in the evening.
