UPPER DUBLIN, PA — Power outages hit the area hard following the storm overnight, especially Upper Dublin.
Some 5,800 residents remained without power as of noon Friday, according to PECO's outage maps, accounting for more than half of the township's customers.
The storm caused "significant damage" to trees and power lines in the township, according to Upper Dublin police.

In a statement, police urged residents to stay away from downed power lines and to obey signs blocking closed roadways. If you see roads or sidewalks in Upper Dublin with downed wires or trees, call 911.

Upper Dublin School District is shut down for the day, along with the Upper Dublin public library. Wissahickon and Springfield school districts are also shut down.
Butler Pike was closed for a few hours in the wake of the storm; it reopened before 3 a.m., Fort Washington Fire Co. 1 said.

The Upper Dublin outages are just part of the impact of the storm, along with 23,200 more outages in Montgomery County alone, and 68,000 around the PECO network in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Nearby Upper Dublin, Springfield (3,200) and Horsham (2,400) were two of the other hardest hit municipalities.
PECO has not yet announced when they believe power will be back on. However, the total number of outages has slowly but steadily dropped since earlier in the morning.
The overnight storm brought torrential rain, thunder, and heavy winds, even leading to a tornado warning in Montgomery County.
