Proposed Upper Dublin Library Move
UDRC Calls for postponement of vote, survey of Township residents

Recently, a non-partisan group of Upper Dublin citizens concerned after the purchase of a building by the Township for 5 million dollars, and intended to be used as a replacement of the existing Upper Dublin Library, began discussions including having the issue placed on the ballot as a referendum. Since Upper Dublin is a Home Rule community, a referendum is not an option. However, costs for this project have dramatically increased over initial projections, and now township staff have begun posting on Facebook extolling the virtues of the project to garner support without addressing the concerns many residents have expressed. We think the magnitude of this proposal rises above the usual process of a discussion and vote by the Commissioners.
The Upper Dublin Republican Committee believes the Commissioners should postpone action on the project and have an independent third party survey of all residents before any further action is taken. However, for that to happen, citizens must make their voice heard. Please contact your Commissioners and demand the library project be placed on hold before another dollar is spent. The citizens of Upper Dublin deserve the ultimate say in whether they want this exceptional expenditure. Contact your Commissioners NOW. This issue will be voted on March 12th!
