Sixth Graders Graduate from The Montessori School in Dresher
We Congratulate The Newest Members Of The Class Of 2018

On June 7, the 45th graduation ceremony at The Montessori School included two guests from the Montessori school community, one of whom was Janet Wallace as presenter of the Kevin Wallace Award for Sportsmanship, and the other was alumna Emma Holt ‘12 who gave the keynote address.
Molly Brinker '23 was the recipient of this year’s Kevin Wallace Award for Sportsmanship with honorable mention given to Violet Gorman '22 and Finnegan Chambely '21. Janet Wallace, Kevin Wallace’s mother, has been to TMS for many years to memorialize her son’s shortened life. Katrina Janeczko '13, a previous winner of the Arnold Zeleznik Citizenship Award, presented this year’s award to Grace Sippl '18 with honorable mention given to Pelin Yuksel '18 and Calder Cook '18.
Our guest speaker, Emma Holt ‘12, spoke to the enduring values exemplified at TMS: “It is a caring, respectful and nurturing environment that makes an impact on all of us who are lucky to be a part of it. This kind community isn’t something you’re likely to find again, but the values we hold stay with you for the rest of your life. Montessori education prepares you not only for success in school, but for success in life as well as becoming a well-rounded person. You develop a work ethic, and get real-world preparation that you don’t get elsewhere. Instead of doing the least, you’ll find yourselves doing the most, and often going above and beyond on projects simply because learning is fun and challenging yourself is second nature. Our Montessori education extends to how we carry ourselves in all aspects of life.”

ABOUT THE MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Dr Maria Montessori, Italian physician and educator, founded the Montessori system of education, which embodies key learning skills identified for success in the 21st century. The Montessori Method incorporates multi-age groupings of children that are directed by teachers who facilitate the concept of individualized learning. Teachers adjust their material according to each student’s mastery of academic, intellectual and social learning, thus building students’ strengths and transforming weaknesses. Students from TMS matriculate to a variety of private/independent and public schools. The Montessori School in Dresher is one of only a few Montessori schools in the greater Philadelphia area that serves the whole child from toddler through 6th grade. The Montessori School is accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS). Applications for the 2018-19 school year are currently being accepted for some pre-school and elementary grades.
