Upper Dublin Among PA's Safest Towns, New Study Says

UPPER DUBLIN, PA — Upper Dublin has been included on a recent list of the 100 safest cities in Pennsylvania. The rankings were compiled by SafeWise, a safety and home security news website that puts together annual lists.
According to the ranking, Upper Dublin is the 46th safest place in Pennsylvania. Nearby, Lower Salford was ranked as the 12th safest place in the state, while Upper Gwynedd is 62nd and Towamencin is 95th. The study only ranked the top 100 safest places across the state.
To come up with the list, study authors analyzed the most recent FBI crime data, which is from 2015. Only cities with a population of 5,000 or more were considered. Here's what Safewise said about their methodology:

"We narrowed it down based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) in each city. To level the playing field, we calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city."

Paint Township, a small municipality in Somerset County in southwestern Pennsylvania, came in first on the list. They had zero violent crimes, and only .58 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
This is the fourth year that Safewise has put together their list.
