Upper Dublin Gets $500K To Extend Cross-County Trail
Great news for the Cross-County trail in Montgomery County.
UPPER DUBLIN, PA — Upper Dublin has received a $500,000 grant to expand the Cross-County Trail, Montgomery County officials announced Friday.
The project is one of six across the county to receive Transportation Program Grants, which are funded by the county's $5 motor vehicle registration fee.
With the grant, Upper Dublin will install a road diet for half a mile along Delaware and Virginia drives in the Fort Washington Office Park, which will allow the Cross-County Trail to be constructed along the roadway's right of way.

The trail currently runs from the Schuylkill River Trail just outside of Conshohocken up to Germantown Pike. Plans call for it to eventually link the Schuylkill with the Power Line Trail out in Willow Grove and the Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail.
“Municipalities use these grants to fund projects that they want to do to improve traffic and pedestrian safety for their residents," Val Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners," said in a statement. "By using these grants, the municipalities free up local dollars that can be used for other high priority projects that they have."
