Want to Have Tea With Betsy Ross? Better Hurry!

If you've always longed to snack over scones while sipping tea with one of Amercia's most famous women, now is your chance. But, you had better hurry!

Sunday, March 10 is the final day those in the area can reserve tickets in order to attend "Tea With Betsy Ross" on Saturday, March 16.

OK, we'll admit it. According to Historical Philadelphia, Ross, the eighth of 17 children, would actually be 261 years old today. So instead, the Historical Society of Montgomery County (HSMC) has hired a re-enactor to teach those of all ages more about Ross' life and history.

"Join us for a cup of tea and conversation with Betsy Ross," said the Society's site. "Well known re-enactor and historian, Carol Spacht, will chronicle the history of our nation’s most important symbol, but the story of its creation is shrouded in mystery and legend."

According to the Historical Society, there is still much unknown about Ross and the history of the nation's flag.

"Nobody knows where or when the first flag of the United States was made, or almost nobody knows," said the website.

Those that attend the teatime can decide for themselves what "story" makes the most sense.

"Join us for a visit with Betsy Ross and hear the story of our flag from our nation’s premiere flag maker. Did she or didn’t she make the flag? Only you can decide," said the Society's website.

Tea, sandwiches and desserts will be served at the day's event. The program is slated for Saturday, March 16. The cost per person: $25 for members of the HSMC and $30 for non-members.
