When Is Trick Or Treating In Upper Dublin?

Fall is nearly here, which means Halloween is just around the corner. And it’s never to early to plan ahead.

Upper Dublin will celebrate the holiday on October 31, similar to many other local municipalities.

Officials generally advise parents and children to trick or treat while it is still light outside, but a strict curfew, or start/end time, has not yet been announced.

Be sure to check back for any updates as the holiday grows closer.

The Bridgeport Police Department offers the following tips for children to stay safe during Halloween night:

• Try to trick or treat when it is still light outside
• Wear a costume that makes it easy for you to walk, see and be seen
• If you must go out at night, make sure your costume is light in color or reflective
• Carry a flashlight so you can see and be seen easily
• A facemask will keep you from seeing well. Take off your mask before crossing the street at the crosswalk
• Consider using make up instead of wearing a mask
• Have a parent or older brother or sister go trick or treating with you
• Plan your Trick or Treat route ahead of time. Pick streets that are well lighted.
• Cross only at corners or crosswalks; never cross between parked cars or in the middle of the block.
• If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic
• Wait until you get home to sort, check and eat your treats.

And Hatfield Police Chief Tierney adds the following tips:

• Wear something reflective or carry a light.
• Don’t go too far from home
• Stay with a group, never wander off alone
• Only stop at well-lit houses
• Don’t talk to anyone you don’t know
• Be cautious of passing vehicles
• Make sure your parents check your goodies
• Have fun!
