Add Some Magic to the Season with Disney's Epic Musical Aladdin
Keith Valley Middle School student acting troupe to perform Disney's classic musical Aladdin on December 12, 13 & 14.

Add some extra magic to your holiday season with Keith Valley Music Theatre as the middle school acting troupe brings Disney's classic musical about a young street urchin, Aladdin, (Quin Rock, 7th) who discovers a magic lamp and unlocks the resident genie (Santiago Alezard, 8th) who proceeds to grant him three wishes. The duo team up to help transform Aladdin into a prince so he can court the kingdom’s princess, Jasmine (Eliott Kahmar, 8th), with the help of Aladdin’s pals Omar (Wade Craney, 8th), Babkak (Hope Jacobus, 8th), Kassim (Chase Fricka, 8th) and Abu (Aariyona Winslow, 8th). However, they soon find out that evil, in the form of Jafar (Steven Stunder, 8th) and Iago (Sadie Van Tassel, 8th), his sidekick parrot, has other plans.
Aladdin must use a combination of The Genie’s magic and his own street-smarts to overcome Jafar’s evil plot to overtake the kingdom, while showing Jasmine that there is more to him than meets the eye, and that he truly is a ‘diamond in the rough.’
Based on Disney’s 1992 animated blockbuster, which has also been made into a Broadway hit and live action feature film, the production features an array of magnificent musical numbers, magical animals, fabulous costumes and props and enchanting sets that help the cast bring this timeless fairy tale to life. This will be a must-see spectacular production.

The show, performed by Keith Valley Middle School students, is produced by Kristen Schada, directed by Barry Dougherty and Kelly Snyder, with music direction by Ed Conrad, dance choreography by Caroline Butcher and set design by Chris Adams. This direction team has previously dazzled audiences with productions of “Cinderella,” "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," "Disney's The Lion King" and "Grease."
As Barry Dougherty, the director, discussed why Aladdin was an ideal show choice this year, explaining, “This is such a fantastic production that both dazzles and enchants audiences and the excitement around the recent live-action film made this show a perfect choice. It’s amazing to bring beloved stories to life that are so well known, because it provides the opportunity to further connect audience members with these characters. Aside from this, the musical numbers are simply spectacular and deliver so much fun to both the actors and audience alike.”

Kristen Schada, the producer, discussed bringing a show of this magnitude to life, saying, “It is certainly a challenge given the scope of the production and the fact it is such a well-known story by everyone of all ages. However, the reactions of the audience seeing one of their favorite stories come to life is magical. We’ve certainly seen this with past productions like Cinderella and Lion King, so we’re thrilled to see the audience connect this time with the cast of Aladdin.”
