BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It was on her list from Day One.

When Patti Campi became Bucks County's coroner, one of her goals was to get the Warminster Township-based office national accreditation.

"It was a top goal," Bucks County Coroner Patti Campi told Patch Monday morning. "I definitely wanted to get it done in my first year of office."

The accreditation by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) signifies the office's commitment to meeting the highest standards of excellence in death investigation and forensic services.

"Being a nurse, I worked in a lot of hospitals that were accredited," Campi said. "This holds you to higher standards."

Accreditation by IACME reflects adherence to rigorous professional criteria in operations, facilities, training, and investigative practices.

The process involves an extensive evaluation, including an on-site inspection by IACME assessors, to ensure compliance with 285 standards.

"We've been working on it since January," the coroner said, adding she was assisted by Deputy Coroner Scott Croop. "It was a lot of work. But we kept knocking it down."

"This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to serving the residents of Bucks County with professionalism, compassion, and integrity," Campi said. “It underscores our office's commitment to transparency, quality, and continuous improvement in fulfilling our vital role within the community."

The Bucks County Coroner's Office provides critical services, including the investigation of sudden, unexpected, or unnatural deaths, and plays a key role in public health and safety.

Achieving IACME accreditation demonstrates the office's alignment with best practices, ensuring the highest level of service to families, law enforcement, and the judicial system.

Through its accreditation program, IACME promotes best practices, professional development, and accountability among coroner and medical examiner offices worldwide.

With this accomplishment, Campi said she is getting ready for her second year at the helm.

"I'm already working on some new things," she said.
